When I was a kid I loved the Broons! Every Sunday I would sit in my dad's armchair at the back of the shop reading them in The Sunday Post. Eventually I bought a couple of annuals which I packed when I left Glasgow. The funny thing now is that Haider is a huge fan now ! Instead of reading Roald Dhall and Lemony Snicket for bedtime reading, I am reading him Oor Wullie and The Broons and the Scottish slang doesn't seem to be a limitation! He's catching on very well. Yesterday he guessed right when he said "Mama is tatties potatoes?".
You wouldn’t admit it,
But
A boulder lies between us
Drawing the heat from our bed;
Dividing
And severing our
Once-upon-a-time togetherness.

There is a sky outside our window
Which tonight
Is starless and moonless; it’s
A dried out river
revealing all the rubbish
Accumulated in 11 years.
A verification in
Favour of our separation.

Nothing down there is worth salvaging.
Years down the line we will be
Wretchedly imitated by our children.
Children
We thought nurtured and schooled well;
Our infant ringside spectators who
Watch our quarrels and beg us to stop.

A boulder has taken form between us,
Greying out colours and benumbing warm feelings.
We are incapable of moving it or crawling over it or hiding it under the covers.
Soon our neighbours and friends will discover it’s existence.
A nightmare
Right here on our picture perfect surburbian avenue.

Wake up !
We should call for a fork-lift to take this thing away?
Or would you prefer to use the front door?

A beautiful beautiful picture of two very strong, lovely, kind, warm and wonderful mums, Gulzar and Irene. Lynne was right when she said she was sure they had known each other all their lives!
In Glasgow we brave the rain. In Oslo the parks empty of the usual crowds...exception being tourists like me.

DR called me this morning and shouted down the phone 'just shut up and listen to me...write for gawds sake'. So I am and I have written a piece for an edinburgh publishing firm. Making the gluten free cakes and writing some pieces which may interest some poor sod out there, may bring in some well needed cash. Unemployment is gnawing a hole in my pocket.
And yes I plan to send DR work to edit and yes I will stop thinking about it and instead do just that. A bit of self belief wouldn't go amiss mate!
Yesterday we were at Thomas and Sylvies' place for a barbeque. The live on the highest point overlooking Oslo fjord where the sky meets the sea ! Daniel and I grilled our infamous pakistani kebabs while everyone else grilled tasteless morsels of meat! Hopped on the outdoor trampoline ! Great fun! If only we had a garden..........
